What I Did:

I started working as a Digital Content Coordinator with The Daily Progress in Charlottesville, Va. from July 2018 until I was laid off in September 2020. During an interview for that position, I was asked if I’d be willing to wear many hats in that role; ultimately, I wore them with pride. I wasn’t just the Digital Content Coordinator; I was the Audience Engagement Editor, part-time music writer, Social Media editor and video champion.

Twitter examples:

Towards the start of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, I also took on the role of a health reporter, putting together daily COVID reports based on the latest data from the Blue Ridge Health District and the Virginia Department of Health.

During my time at the Progress, I helped oversee not one, but two different site template changes to the website’s design. The first template change coincided with the 2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships, which the University of Virginia Cavaliers ultimately went on to win.

I also contributed to the paper’s entertainment section with a number of interviews and general interest pieces that were published.

Some of the entertainment pieces were cover stories for the paper’s entertainment section!
